Our ODM Development Process of Tents
It takes 11 steps to produce tent in bulk until its packed. This includes design, material procurement, pre-production sampling, cutting, logo application, sewing, seam taping, tent poles assembling, inspection, water-spray test and packaging.
1. Design and Drafting
Develop detailed design plans, incorporating tent size, shape, structure, and material selection. Experienced technicians utilize computer-aided design (CAD) to create 3D tent drawings, recognizing that not all computer-generated designs seamlessly translate into functional tents. A cutting template is finalized meanwhile.

2. Material Procurement
Source and procure materials based on the Bill of Materials (BOM) sheet. Common materials include tent fabric, poles, stakes, zippers, guylines, and other components.

3. Pre-production Sample
Produce an initial pre-production sample to confirm all design details. Clients may receive photos or physical samples for verification if necessary.

4. Cutting
Precisely cut bulk tent fabric according to the finalized cutting template, after pre-production sample confirmed.

5. Logo Application on Fabric
If silk printing is required, apply the logo to the bulk fabric before sewing. Woven labels are incorporated during the sewing process.

6. Sewing
Seamlessly stitch together cut pieces to assemble the tent body, rainfly, inner tent, and other components. Attach zippers, mesh panels, and additional features during the sewing process. Both side silicon fabric needs special stitching needles and high-density stitching. (About this type of fabric, we will introduce more in our future blog)

7. Seam Taping
Execute a crucial seam-taping process, which significantly influences the tent’s waterproofing. The skill of the workers, the taping machine, speed, and temperature all impact the effectiveness of seam taping. However both side silicon fabric tent doesn’t need this process cause the normal tape can not be adhered to fabric strongly. (About this type of fabric, we will introduce more in our future blog)

8. Tent Poles and Pegs
Production and assembly of tent poles and pegs are typically handled by specialized factories distinct from the tent manufacturing facility. Assemble the tent frame, including poles, hubs, and support structures, factory should ensure durability, lightweight construction, and secure fit.

9. Inspection
Implement comprehensive quality control throughout the entire tent manufacturing process, encompassing raw material inspection, mid-manufacture checks, and finished product inspections. Thoroughly examine material, logos, stitching integrity, zipper functionality, and overall structural integrity.

10. Water-spray Test
Conduct a water-spray test on the pre-production sample to identify design defects which causing water leakage. Repeat the test on mass-produced tents to detect any taping defects leading to water leakage.

11. Packaging
Pack tent body, poles, pegs, manual, hangtag, and other items into a stuffsack. Pack these items into cartons as per client specifications, ensuring no missing components from the final product.

Quality Control

Whole manufacture line inspection
Our in-process inspection is integrated across the entire production workflow, spanning from cutting fabrics, sewing, applying seam tape, to the final packaging.
Leader’s routing inspection
To maintain quality control, workshop team leaders conduct at least four daily inspections, while workshop supervisors perform at least two daily inspections. These inspections focus on assessing the quality of products on the production line, ensuring timely and effective control of any manufacturing issues or improvements on workmanship.
Additional inspection process
For example, in the process of production, a critical inspection step involves checking for any excess thread length in the seam tapes of our tents. If left unaddressed, these protruding threads can absorb water and expand during prolonged use, potentially leading to the detachment of the seam tape and causing water leakage. Therefore, prior to applying the seam tape, an additional step is undertaken where workers trim any excess threads at the seam tape location. This precaution ensures that during the sewing process, threads are not inadvertently pressed into the seam tape, preventing issues during subsequent use.
100% Inspection
All bulk tent productions undergo a 100% inspection at the factory level. Workers would inspect base on Defects Manual and specific instruction from Meb Team.
Suspension (Hanging) inspection
All the inner tent will be hanging up for detailed checking. Comparing to inspect on the table, this way is more efficient and make sure there would be no small things stuck in the inner tent since all things would be drop off.
Pitch inspection
To manage inspection costs, it is important to honestly inform you that not all tents will be individually pitched for inspection. However, for mid- to high-end tents, orders with special or exceptionally high-quality requirements from clients, or products with new and specialized production processes leading to less proficient seamstress work, our factory conducts a 100% pitch inspection. Compared to suspension (hanging) inspections, pitch inspections simulate the actual usage scenario of tents, making it easier to identify various product issues from the consumer's perspective, such as the fitness of tent body and poles, sag or sewing wrinkles, missing accessories, fabric stains and damages, and sewing defects.

Why we do?
The waterproofing performance is a crucial factor in determining whether a tent can be brought to the market. Given our commitment to customer customization, the design and craftsmanship of the tent often play a significant role in its waterproof capabilities. Typically, customers may request two or three modifications to the samples we provide before placing an order. Therefore, we conduct water spray test on the pre-production sample at latest, ensuring there are no leakage issues before proceeding with mass production. If any waterproofing issues arise due to the tent's design, we propose a solution, communicate promptly with the customer, and only proceed with mass production after obtaining your approval.
How we do?
The water spray test is typically conducted at the factory, where the tent is set up, dry paper is placed in the tent, and a water pump is used to simulate light rain, moderate rain, and heavy rain conditions. The test lasts for 20-60 minutes, and afterward, we check whether the tent paper remains dry. This rigorous process ensures that our tents meet high waterproofing standards.
